Richard is an organic farmer of long standing. His family has farmed organically for more than 50 years at their 100ha (247-acre) mixed enterprise at Raywell, near Hull, East Yorkshire.
The Thompsons' York Grounds Farm was one of the first in the UK to switch to organic production, under the guidance of Richard's father, Michael, in 1949.
Richard believes strongly in the need for organic producers to work closely together, developing partnerships with major retailers if the sector is to flourish.
