Farm campaigner and organic stalwart dies
April 29th, 2010

It was with sadness that OF&G learned of the death of Nick Rebbeck - a man who made a huge impact in linking farming with education.

Nick, who lost his battle with cancer on April 23, was well known in the organic community, having worked with Soil Association director, Patrick Holden, for nearly 30 years.

He was the founder of Learning on the Farm, an initiative that connected schools with farms and led to thousands of children from around Wales getting direct experience of where their food came from.

Nick farmed at Bwlchwernen Fawr, near Lampeter.

OF&G chief executive, Richard Jacobs, said: "I was very sorry indeed to hear that Nick had passed away. He contributed an enormous amount to organics and to farming and education as a whole. We need more people with his enthusiasm.

"I and everyone at Organic Farmers & Growers pass on our condolences to Nick's family and wish them well."

More information on Nick's invaluable work is available from the Organic Centre Wales website, as well as from Learning on the Farm.
